Ibis Variable Data, Variable Page Count Saddle Stitcher Installation In Florida

Best Graphics, Ibis’ North American Sales Agent, Sell an Ibis Smart-binder 2 Saddle Stitcher for Variable Data, Variable Page Count Bookletmaking –

Best Graphics (WI) have secured a Smart-binder SB 2 Saddle Stitcher order from a large, multi-facility publication printer. This unit will run “near line” behind an unwinder, inline sheeter, and a Hewlett-Packard HP PageWide digital web press.

After the HP PageWide digital web press engine prints variable data onto roll-based paper, the product moves over to a near line unwinder with inline cutting (“web cutter”) capabilities to produce 4-page signatures. Because of the digital print technology of the HP PageWide, each 4-pager can convey unique data, text, personalized information. The digital press also provides a 2D, a 3 to 9, or comparable barcode on each page. These are read by cameras, allowing the data to reverts back to the Ibis Smart-binder’s central controls, thereby determining how many 4-page signatures (per book) are to be scored and fed into the Ibis gathering, collating section.

Once the pre-determined set of signatures makes a completed booklet – variable in page count, and variable in data – a cover is matched to the set before Hohner stitch heads wire staple the book. Thereafter, the book is three-sided trimmed (to remove any unnecessary barcodes).

Recognized for their reliability, 100% verification guarantee, and low-cost of ownership, this will be the 11th Ibis Smart-binder high speed, variable page saddle stitcher purchased by this long standing Ibis-Best Graphics’ account.

Interested in learning more about our Ibis Smart-binders? Prefer to feed the unit via flat sheets (pile fed)? Or, want to produce booklets inline with your digital print engine? Curious how to produce booklets without wire staples? Ask us about our patented Ibis Smart-binder SB 3 model that manufactures booklets with spine glue (for easier mail insertion)! Our sales, service & parts departments are here to help! Contact us today.
