John Becker, Former QUAD Graphics Executive, Joins Best Graphics’ Team

Best Graphics Expands Team to Better Support Continued Growth from Our Finishing, Packaging Portfolio –

John Becker, previously with QUAD Graphics corporate, has joined on with Best Graphics as a Finishing & Packaging Sales Specialist. In his role he will be responsible for engaging with Trade Finishers, Commercial Printers and Folding Carton shops in a technical fashion to further advance the sale of Sheetfed Presses, Die Cutters, Blankers, Offline Blankers, Folder Gluers, Film Laminators, Labelers, Pile Turner-Aerators and other machinery from Best Graphics’ stock inventory.

As the former Procurement Director of Capital Equipment for more than (25) QUAD facilities spanning the U.S., Canada, the Carribbean and Europe, John has extensive knowledge of finishing and packaging applications, industry practice, vendor contacts, equipment capabilities, and asset evaluations. Want to ensure you’ve got that job layout “the right way”? Ask John! Want us to evaluate your current production processes? Consult with John! Have excess equipment for sale!? Call John! Toll free: (800) 236-7603!

Prior to working with QUAD’s executive team, John co-founded a Trade Finishing House, Schreiber Specialties, in the early ’90s. He’s always had a passion for Die Cutting, Stamping and Folding/Gluing. In fact, Schreiber Specialties was a beta site for one of the first Bobst Spantera Die Cutters and housed one of the first North American Expertfold Folder Gluers with Gyro technology. Other the years John made several trips, on a consulting level, to Bobst’s Switzerland R&D facilities to design and develop what is now known as the Bobst Foil Master Hot Foil Stamping machine.

With a continual investment in new technology, a knack for doing the “tough jobs”, and year-on-year sales growth, by ’10 QUAD contacted John with an offer to purchase his firm, and join on in an administrative role. A decade later, whether in an office negotiating deals, or down on a shop floor, John’s passion for cartons, die lines, procedures, job make-readies and “hard iron” burns just as strongly today.

Best Graphics are thrilled to have John, and believe his assets dovetail well with our line of Young Shin Die Cutters-Blankers-Foil Stampers, Laserck Offline Blankers, Busch Pile Turners-High Die Cutters, STOCK Litho Laminators, DGM Folder Gluers-Carton Packers, and our Ecosystem Film Laminators.

In fact, there’s no better person to present you with equipment offerings than someone who previously bought equipment from Best Graphics and our extensive portfolio! A story better than any referral: someone who bought the equipment, ran it themselves, knows its effectiveness, and wants you to know how great it is, too!

. . . Welcome to “this side” of the negotiating table, John! Our team and our clients will KNOW BETTER VALUE! when you’re on the phone, or in their shop.

Toronto Replaces Legacy Muller Martini with Osako Tener Alpha Sitcher

Best Graphics Ships Out 12,000/Hour Osako Tener Alpha Automated Saddle Stitcher to metro-Toronto, Canada for Installation –

Best Graphics has recently closed another Osako Japanese Saddle Stitcher in the Canadian province of Ontario. The buyer, a Toronto-based commercial printer, was looking for affordable options to replace one of their legacy Muller Martini models.

The system, configured with (6) Osako tool-less signature feeders, and (1) Osako cover feeder allows this second generation print facility the versatility it needs to print short run booklets, long run jobs and/or tricker stock materials. The Osako Tener Alpha’s OT-2000 fully automated trimmer allows the Stitcher operator to enter the next jobs’ size format inputs at the touch screen, thereby enabling the machine’s belts, yoke timing, and book positioning to change automatically. Similarly, the Stitcher section’s automation package results in a very short 3 – 5 minute job prep. For quality control, this Tener Alpha model’s stitcher area also includes  mechanical, and electrical calipers as standard.

When compared to the competition, Best Graphics’ Osako Saddle Stitchers are affordably priced without forsaking durability. With the savings the print shop received, they re-purposed the funds towards a 4th and 5th Knife (for inline, 2-up bookletmaking), as well as a Fenimore 528 Punch (for inline calendar, and 3-hole production). Both options were sold by Best Graphics’ team, and will be installed by our Service Department personnel.

Like all Osako purchases, the machine included installation, employee training and a full parts and labor warranty.

Whether you’re in the Greater  Toronto Area; Ottawa; Montreal; Edmonton; Vancouver; or just across the U.S.-Canada border, we’d love to host you for an Osako Stitcher demonstration. Simply call our office at (800) 236-7603, or submit an online request.

Do you currently “fight” your used Heidelberg ST-270; Heidelberg ST-90; Muller Martini 321; Muller Martini Bravo; Muller Martini Prima with AMRYS; or Muller Martini Presto Stitcher? Are parts becoming an issue for your team? Is access to Muller Martini service becoming a liability? We can help, and would love to hear from you.

New, or used. Four plus cover; multiple cover feeders; six plus cover and beyond! Trust the Stitching equipment for sale by Best Graphics: North America’s largest independent equipment distributor with 150 – 175 annual machine sales!

Best Graphics Triumphs Over Polar for Multi-Piece Purchase

Best Graphics Trumps Polar, Blumer for Canada-based, Multi-Facility Commercial Printer’s New Purchase –

Best Graphics are Busch’s Distributor, and Post-Sales Support for North America

A multi-facility, high profile Canadian-based Commercial Printer has elected Best Graphics (Milwaukee, WI) as their partner for their recent acquisition of Finishing equipment.  Their team will be receiving Busch B+P High Die Cutting, and Busch KF Waste Conveying solutions. The equipment will be delivering from Busch’s Hamburg, Germany facilites August Wk 1.

During the discovery process, the client demonstrated Best Graphics’ Busch line of products, in addition to Polar (Germany), and Blumer (Switzerland) equipment. Ultimately, our technical capabilities, extended machine warranty, and extremely reactive post-Sales support granted us Canada’s trust.

A few highlights about the scope of the project and how Best Graphics, our vendor partner, and the end-user worked towards the mutually agreed sale:

  • The this large, established Commercial Printer is new to the High Die Cutting space, which allowed Best Graphics to educate them about the viability of tackling a new category of business
  • Due to Best Graphics/Busch’s high volume of output per machine, the Printer was able to close 5-year contracts with their prospective customers, thereby strengthening the ROI on these capital expenditures
  • An onsite factory visit allowed the Printer to understand Best Graphics, and Busch’s infrastructe in greater detail; subsequent discussions for additional machines – in other categories – have already commenced
  • Best Graphic and Busch were able to describe various Printers – Stateside, in Europe, and in Africa – who are fulfilling the same end-user work on Busch Die Cutting machines
  • Quick turnaround times were not an issue, given Best Graphics technical “know how” of air freighting in equipment from international partners
  • Extended 3-year machine warranties gives the Printer, new to this segment of business, the assurance they, and their operators need
  • Best Graphics’ honest, affordable pricing when compared to Polar High Die Cutters, and Blumer High Die Cutters means lower carrying costs, and larger margins for the Printer

With a team of Sales Representatives, Service Technicians, and a dedicated Parts Department | Parts Manager, Best Graphics were able to sell 183 machines in 2018. This client is one of the 150 – 175+ machine projects Best Graphics will facilitate in 2019.
