Stitcher — features ‘mechanical caliper’ to ensure only ‘good’ books are stitched and ‘missed stitch’ detectors rejecting bad books before they enter the trimmer. The touch screen monitors the location of any safety trips and automatically sets up rotary feeders, moves stitch heads and clinchers, trimmer knife positions and book thickness. The ‘flying stitch head’ design is noted for minimal maintenance.

Rotary Feeders — each ORF-122 rotary feeder on the Micro Series is designed to tilt back or forward, any feeder can become a hand feed station or adjust to center drop cards, envelopes and oblongs for maximum production speeds. No tools are required to set up the feeders, and feeder timing to rail can be set automatically by computer in seconds. Osako manufactures fixed, moveable, flat pile, vertical and double diameter feeder styles for any specific need. Image and bar code signature recognition systems are easily added.

Cover Feeders — all Osako cover feeders, including the ORC-315 cover feeder that the Micro is equipped with, come with die quality standard and reverse scoring which means 100% of all covers can be scored in-line. Unique to Osako Stitchers is the ability to register the cover, and then have the cover gently broken to score. The advantage over any competitive feeder is its’ ability to minimize cracking on sensitive stocks or difficult ink coverages. Additionally, “refold” or “TV guide” type signature work can be produced at high production speeds. Maximum operator control is provided with micro screw and lateral table adjustments.

Trimmer — The Micro is equipped with the OT-352 Semi-automatic 3/8” max thickness face last three knife trimmer. All Osako trimmers move the book from the first cut position to second by gear and chain…far superior to competitive pneumatic or cable drive systems which restricts proper registration at high speed. For 2 up book production, the upper assembly is easily installed with the notched slide that requires no side-to-side adjustment. Only the lower assembly needs be aligned to the top assembly. Also, the entire top and bottom 4th and 5th knife is micro adjustable side-to-side.
